**Updated Review - July 24, 2021** I am updating my review from March as I had a situation come up that required reengagement with The Wolf Group. Out of nowhere we received a notice of penalty (a VERY large penalty 😱!) from the IRS related to our 2018 return which had been prepared by The Wolf Group. I contacted the woman who we had dealt with previously and received a response that she would look into it. Based on the way that we parted ways and the review I had left for them expressing my disappointment, I did not anticipate that they would address this issue. I received an email from the director of the The Wolf Group who addressed the notice I had received, made mention of the review and stated that he would like to have a tax attorney review the case & that he would not charge me for that attorney’s services. Long story short they were able to get the IRS to see that the penalty was not justified and we received a letter from the IRS stating that. I was/am pleasantly surprised that The Wolf Group stepped up to handle this situation and it warranted mention. I should add that I do not doubt their ability to complete a thorough assessment and filing of complicated international clients tax returns - my issue with them (which follows in it’s original unedited form) was in their communication and the effect it had on the amount they charged me. I feel that they did the right thing in providing consultation, at no charge to me, with the tax attorney and I’m happy that they completed the resolution of the penalty notice efficiently. I like to believe they did this out of their own sense of obligation and not because of the review I left back in March and so I’ve upped my rating of them in acknowledgement of the resolution of this issue. (original review follows) We had an extremely unsettling experience with the Wolf Group. After interviewing several firms to handle our first tax return since moving abroad, we settled on The Wolf Group. They did not give us the lowest quote but we felt the value offered warranted the price they quoted us. They proved to be unable to deliver on many fronts - they were unable to effectively communicate with our in-country accountants (in Costa Rica) to get the documentation they needed to complete our tax return which resulted in excess billing from our Costa Rican accountants. The filing they submitted to the IRS was incomplete and was rejected by the IRS for more information which they refused to complete forcing me to do the final legwork to provide the information requested by the IRS (as of March 2021 the filing of this 2018 return has not been completed and they take no responsibility!). To top it off we were presented with an invoice FOUR TIMES the quote we were originally provided based on “excess time” spent on our return largely because of their own inability to communicate with our accountants in Costa Rica. By comparison the new firm we used for our 2019 & 2020 return was 1/3 the original quoted price, they were able to communicate with our Costa Rican accountants & secure all the information they needed in a timely & efficient manner and successfully file the returns with no additional requests from the IRS - taking responsibility, pride, and ownership of their work through to completion of the tax return. Meanwhile I am STILL waiting for my 2018 return to be completed due to the negligent handling by The Wolf Group. . Needless to say, I cannot recommend enough that you avoid this firm based on my experience.

We waited over a month for a 10 minute "discovery call" with them, after being provided very few options to schedule the appointment. They attempted to call once and then told us that we would need to reschedule. Not the experience we were expecting.
